Rebirth in Spring

Spread the love

White petals fall swirling to the ground

Reminiscent of last season’s snow

Waters in creek bed, burbling, bound

Flower-scents on merry winds doth blow

Rain falls, weeping from grey cloud,

Thundering as a mother in travailing woe

‘Til at last spring tears through winter’s shroud

And new green life begins at last to grow

Thrush song and mourning dove among new branches sound

Unfurling blooms in gladness color wood and meadow

All the world casts off and aside what death in winter bound;

Cast off in rebirth the dark of mortal sin and shadow

To receive a King once on cross enthroned, with thorns a-crowned,

Whose glory outshines the sun

and reign outlasts all seasons of sun or snow.

“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” Genesis 8:22 KJV

Hey guys! I know the last line of my poem today is a little cumbersome, but I’m open to suggestions for revision, so feel free to comment if you’ve got some. Thank you so much for reading! I hope this changing of seasons is good to you, whether it’s getting warmer or colder for you.
