Blessed be the name of the Lord God who bringeth dawn!

For by its coming, we are relieved of the night, we are relieved of tormented thoughts in the dark and brought to light.

Blessed be the name of the Lord God who bringeth dawn! Who instilled a love for light in men’s hearts and gave us fear of the dark, yet in His own goodness, taketh away fears of dark and giveth fear of Himself, which is the greater than any.

What a beautiful thing to fear the Lord alone!

Yea, I do not fully understand nor comprehend it myself, but for the lack of other fears I hold. I no longer fear the night, nor do I fear the dawn. Yea, I love my rest and I love the light.

Blessed be the name of the Lord God who bringeth dawn! Blessed be the name of the Holy Ghost who keepeth me safe through the night and gives me hope! Blessed be the name of Jesus Christ, who redeems me to see the light!

Aubade, song of morning light, how could I forgo to praise the Lord who made it? Indeed, I am unworthy to know His glory and His grace; I am unworthy to praise Him in any wise, yet how can I keep from doing so when He is so great? When He maketh not only night for my rest, but light for my work and dawn of beautiful colors for me to see His coming each day? When He giveth me this love in my heart, which I have only just begun to feel, how can I keep from praising He who bringeth dawn? Let me write to Him. Let me praise Him in all works; yea, even though I should write of elves and princes and magic swords and whatnot, I must praise Him there as well! For His love giveth me light, His love giveth me fear of His great self alone so that I need fear naught else.

Blessed be the name of the Lord God who bringeth dawn and bringeth all to light! Yea, do I wish that my sins would never be uncovered in this light, for they are great and terrible… that thought, it fills me with fear that any should know I so disloved and failed the Lord who I now praise so greatly as to fall into sin and let it trap me for so many days and weeks; even today! Yea, though I will bless Him and bless the light He bringeth! For He humbled me before Himself, and He took away all my false support so that I should lean upon His rock alone—how great and beautiful the mysteries of His works! As far as I can tell, these are no empty words, for my heart is burning within me even as I write them, and my hands shake over the keys in their dance, but I feel not heat of fear nor cold of anxiety; I feel only desperation to share my love for Him which has only just been planted these last days I spent mourning over my grievous thoughts. Oh, blessed be the name of the Lord who bringeth dawn to my understanding and light to my words and whose glory burns brighter and brighter in my thoughts as I learn of Him! How unworthy I am to know such a Lord! How dark a creature I am—even in my own heart and mind; I am not safe from sin but in His presence.

Psalm 100:2 (KJV) “Praise the Lord with gladness; come before His presence singing.”

What a beautiful verse! It perfectly captures the dawn in my mind, for always I have thought dawn to come with the voices of angels and of God’s children singing with all their voice and all the breath that is in their lungs. Blessings be unto the Lord and His Holy Spirit forever to give us such music as comes with the dawn! Yea, verily all of creation sings—even the birds sing before then, anticipating such goodness! Oh that we could anticipate the same and have such faith and rejoice so in the Lord our Maker whose light and love are so great to fill even our hearts and minds with Him. Truly, the Lord made mornings to be praised; I pray I shall always praise Him then, and then I should praise Him when the night comes, for I know by the falling of darkness, that another dawn shall come, and it will be the dawn of the Lord, such as the falling of darkness under the grave shall lead me to the dawn of resurrection! Blessed be He who made the dawn! Let my spirit always praise Him and let my heart always be filled to overflowing more and more with His dawning light! Blessed be the name of the Lord who maketh dawn to come!

Let the blessing of the Lord dawn in my heart and overflow with light and love so that I can not fill a hundred thousand books of poetry, neither of prose. Let me bless the name of the Lord forever, for His glory is great and His name deserves blessing, not for what He has done me, but for what He is. He is good; let His goodness be blessed.

Philippians 4:8 (KJV): “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

This verse, I believe, is key to happiness in our minds and hearts in God, for to think on good things is to think on God.

For what is truth but Jesus Christ, the redeemer, the Son of the Lord God? What is honest but His truth? What is just but God who judges the world and all in it? What is pure but His love? What is lovely but His raiment and glory that outshines the sun? What can be of good report but the Lord, who alone is good? (Mark 10:18 KJV) If there be any virtue, it must be of the Lord, and if there be any praise, to Him it must be. Dear brethren in Christ, think then on the Lord God.

Here, bless His name again, for He it is who bringeth the dawn of light and love even to the darkest hearts! Let my heart and mind and mouth and spirit always bless the Lord, His Son, and His Holy Ghost. Praise His name always and meditate on Him, for He is good!
